October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.   The Zonta Clubs of LaSalle-Peru, Ottawa, and Streator invite all Illinois Valley residents to participate in two upcoming events in recognition this somber occasion:  Buckets of Love and Luminary of Hope.

Wednesday October 16, 2014

6:30pm: Join us at the Maud Powell Statue on 4th Street in Peru for a short walk with candles to show your support to stop violence against women. The walk will end at the Peru Municipal Building..

7:00pm-8:00pm: Come to hear members of our local community talk about domestic violence in our area and what can be done.

Tina (Wolf) Frasco:  It has been 20 years since her daughter Francie died due to domestic violence. Hear about her story of struggle and survival.

Jennifer Bishop-Jenkins:  Director of Marcie’s Law and founder of IllinoisVictims.org will talk about what is being done to change laws surrounding this issue.

Tom Templeton:  Sheriff of LaSalle County will tell us how law enforcement is trying to help and give a call to action on how we all can help.
