Service & Advocacy

You have often heard of the slogan "Think globally - act locally". This is at the core of how Zonta Clubs try to help. Local clubs will have events and participate in activities that foster our mission. We do this by doing the following:

  • Advocacy - communicating issues relating to women in our local areas
  • Service - helping with specific women's issues in our local areas by volunteering to help with everything from a home revamp for a disabled, elderly woman to gathering products for a local domestic violence shelter
  • Fundraising events - proceeds go to local scholarships, local women's charities, and a part goes towards our international biennium projects

Each year Zonta selects different service events to participate in. While we do not do these events every year, here are a list of some of our previous events.

Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Tom Kilbride was the keynote speaker at the annual Luminary of Hope event Tuesday October 26th, 2010 at Hegeler Carus Mansion in La Salle. The event was sponsored by the Zonta Club of La Salle-Peru. Also pictured are (left) Melissa Olivero, master of ceremonies, and Ann Maxwell-Weisbrod, president of the Zonta Club of La Salle-Peru.
